Bayern Munich 'submit opening offer' for PSV star Ismael Saibari

Saibari, 25, was named Eredivisie Player of the Year during the recent Eredivisie Awards. The Belgian-Moroccan midfielder scored 15 goals and provided 8 assists in 27 games for PSV, who won the league by a record 19 points.

According to several sources, including Fabrizio Romano and Sky Sports' Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich have submitted an opening offer for Saibari after manager Vincent Kompany approved of the midfielder's profile.

Plettenberg also reports that Saibari and his representatives spoke with Kompany and Bayern director Max Eberl on Monday, adding that there's no agreement with PSV as of yet.

Record deal?

If it's up to PSV director Earnest Stewart, PSV will break their transfer record with Saibari's transfer.

"You hear through the grapevine what other clubs are asking for some players. He’s one of the best players in the Dutch league. So it’s no surprise that we’re also holding out for a high price. That seems logical to me," Stewart told ESPN during the club's title celebrations in April.

PSV's current transfer record stands at Hirving Lozano's €50-million fee after leaving for Napoli in 2019.

Ismael Saibari joined PSV from KRC Genk's youth academy in 2020 and made his senior debut in November 2020, when he replaced Mario Gotze against ADO Den Haag. In 142 appearances across all competitions, Saibari scored 42 goals and provided 28 assists.
