Bernardo Silva confirms departure from Manchester City at end of season

Bernardo Silva is now completing his ninth season at Manchester City, having joined the club in 2017/2018 from Monaco.

In total, the 31-year-old Portuguese midfielder has made 451 official appearances for the English club, making him the sixth player in the list of most appearances for City.

"When I arrived 9 years ago, I was following a dream of a little boy, wanting to succeed in life, wanting to achieve great things. This city and this club gave me much more than that, much more than I ever hoped for.

"What we won and achieved together is a legacy that will forever be cherished in my heart. The Centurions, the domestic quadruple, the Treble, the Four In A Row and much more… It wasn’t that bad.

"In a few months, it’s time to say goodbye to the city where not only we won so much as a football club, but also where I started my marriage and my family. From the bottom of my heart, Ines and Carlota, thank you!" Silva wrote in a post on social media.

A product of Benfica's academy, Bernardo Silva left Lisbon in 2014 to join Monaco. After three seasons with the club from the Principality, the midfielder moved to Manchester City, where he is now completing his ninth and final season, winning, among other trophies, a Champions League and six Premier League titles.

This season, as captain, he has played 44 official matches, scoring three goals and providing five assists.
