'I'm very calm': Oscar Gloukh patient amid lack of playing time at Ajax

The 21-year-old Oscar Gloukh joined Ajax from Red Bull Salzburg for €15 million in the summer of 2025 and started promisingly, but lost his starting spot later in the season and has struggled to get playing time under interim managers Fred Grim and Óscar García.

The Israeli midfielder last played for Ajax on March 1st, when he started in the 0-0 away draw at PEC Zwolle. After three consecutive games without making an appearance, Gloukh started and assisted a goal in Israel's 2-2 draw with Georgia.

Gloukh told TV5 about his lack of playing time, saying it's upset him: "This is a period in which I have not played for a long time, even with the previous coach. I was upset that I was not playing; I wanted to play and win," he said.

"On the other hand, it did me good because I came to the team as hungry as I could. Look at that, I got to the ball, I pressed, you also have to tear up the team. I tried to do everything I could to win, and I hope they appreciate that."

Spaniard Óscar García took over from Fred Grim in March, making him the third Ajax manager this season and already the second under newly appointed technical director Jordi Cruyff. Gloukh spoke with Cruyff about his role and is staying patient ahead of the 2026/27 season.

"This is a period when the coach prefers other players. Óscar García continues with them. Jordi talked to me, and I am very calm. Trying to finish the season as best I can, and we will see what happens next season. I have a contract, and that is it."
