What are this week's must-watch games?

Spain vs. Germany live this Friday at 12 p.m ET on FOX, ViX, and fuboTV

Euro 2024 hosts Germany kick off the tournament's quarterfinal stage with a showdown with Spain in what promises to be an exciting fixture. La Roja are the only side with a perfect record, winning all three group-stage matches plus a convincing 4-1 victory over Georgia in the round of 16. The hosts, meanwhile, have slipped up only once but will seek revenge over Spain after infamously losing the Euro 2008 final to Friday's opponent.

Portugal vs. France live this Friday at 3 p.m. ET on FOX, ViX, and fuboTV

Two underperforming heavyweights lock horns in Friday's other quarterfinal as France face Portugal in a promising battle. Les Bleus, who are yet to score a goal in open play all tournament, got this far after beating Belgium 1-0 in the round of 16. Cristiano and Co. needed a penalty shootout against Slovenia, on the other hand, with the five-time Ballon d'Or winner missing a crucial penalty to win the game in extra time. Which side will rediscover their form and win this quarterfinal showdown? Do not miss this game!

England vs. Switzerland live this Saturday at 12 p.m. ET on FOX, ViX, and TUDN USA

England entered the competition as the odds-on favorite but will Switzerland be the side to dump the Three Lions out of the tournament? This is the fear for Southgate's men as their Euro 2024 struggles continue. The 2020 runners-up needed a last-gasp equalizer from Jude Bellingham to avoid a round of 16 exit at the hands of Slovakia following another abysmal performance. Switzerland, on the flip side, clinically dispatched four-time FIFA World Cup winners Italy and will be eyeing another historic triumph.

Netherlands vs. Türkiye live this Saturday at 3 p.m. ET on FOX, ViX, and fuboTV

And finally, we have the Netherlands vs. Türkiye, the last Euro 2024 quarterfinal. The Dutch enter this game on the back of their convincing triumph over Romania, winning 3-0 to make amends for their third-place finish in Group D. Türkiye, meanwhile, endured a nerve-wracking victory over Austria, beating Rangnick's men 2-1 to advance to the last eight. Can Guler and Co. pull off a remarkable victory over Oranje? Tune in to find out.

Uruguay vs. Brazil live this Saturday at 9 p.m. ET on FS1, Univisión, TUDN USA, and ViX

Over to Copa America, two South American powerhouses lock horns this weekend in the standout match of the quarterfinals. Uruguay, the competition's joint-most successful team, battle with Brazil for a spot in the semifinals. La Celeste currently boast a perfect record, winning all three games in the group stage. The Selecao, on the other hand, won only once in the group stage as the five-time FIFA World Cup winners continue to struggle in Neymar's absence.

Goal of the tournament? Bellingham saves England's day with overhead kick

England's Euro 2024 campaign was about to conclude, but a goal from another kind of game kept the Three Lions alive.

The man responsible for England's rise from its ashes was Jude Bellingham, who had failed to put a shot on goal for the entire game, but he managed to save the best for the last moments of the clash with an impressive overhead kick.

Real Madrid's footballer put to good use Marc Guehi's headed extension from a throw-in into the back of the net when things seemed to go quietly into the night for the Euro 2020 runners-up, and with that goal, Jude Bellingham managed to keep England's dream alive. Read more…

Martinez saves Messi blushes as Argentina beat Ecuador to reach Copa semis

Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez was the hero, saving two penalties and Lionel Messi's blushes as holders Argentina defeated Ecuador in a penalty shoot-out to book their place in the Copa America semi-finals on Thursday.

A Lisandro Martinez header had put world champions Argentina 1-0 up ten minutes before half-time but Kevin Rodriguez headed in a stoppage-time leveller for Ecuador, who had risen to the occasion in front of 69,456 fans at Houston's NRG Stadium.

Messi missed the opening penalty, chipping against the bar, but thanks to heroics from Martinez, Argentina recovered to win the shoot-out 4-2 and progress into the semi-finals where they will face the winner of Friday's match between Venezuela and Canada. Read more…

Referee refuses to shake Pulisic's hand after USMNT's Copa America exit vs. Uruguay and here's why

Christian Pulisic was involved in a heated dispute with the referees following the USA's embarrassing 2024 Copa America group-stage elimination, which was confirmed following their 1-0 loss to Uruguay.

Pulisic, who is his country's talisman, was involved in a confrontation with the referees, with one match official refusing to even shake hands with the AC Milan ace. This incident garnered traction and went viral on X (formerly Twitter).

However, it appears the USMNT attacker was the instigator in this situation. As reported by the Daily Mail, the former Chelsea man shouted at the officials before pointing at the celebrating Uruguayan players and asking "Why aren't you over there with them?".

With Pulisic insinuating that the officials were Uruguay fans in disguise, referee Kevin Ortega folded both arms behind his back when the Pennsylvania-born attacker held his out for a handshake. Read more…

Portugal star Silva defends Ronaldo against critics

Portugal's Bernardo Silva on Thursday defended captain Cristiano Ronaldo against criticism leveled his way after the superstar's penalty miss against Slovenia at Euro 2024, and said the forward's emotional reaction was "normal".

Ronaldo, now 39 and playing at his sixth European Championship, has struggled at the tournament in Germany and his inability to find the net so far has raised doubts as to whether he still deserves a starting spot in Roberto Martinez's team.

"Regarding Cristiano, we are humans and he felt emotional when he missed the penalty. That is totally acceptable," Silva said on the eve of Portugal's quarter-final clash with France in Hamburg. Read more…

An "honor" for Mbappe to play against Ronaldo at Euro 2024

Kylian Mbappe said it would be "an honor" to play against his boyhood hero Cristiano Ronaldo when France and Portugal meet in the quarter-finals of Euro 2024 in Hamburg on Friday.

"It is an honor. Everyone knows about my admiration for Cristiano," France captain Mbappe, 25, told reporters on the eve of the game.

Growing up, Mbappe famously decorated his bedroom wall with pictures of Ronaldo and was introduced to the Portuguese superstar at Real Madrid's training ground when the Spanish club tried to sign him as a young teenager.

"I have got to know him over time. We are still in contact. He still tries to follow my career," Mbappe said. Read more...

Confident Kroos says Germany-Spain clash 'won't be my last game'

Retiring Germany veteran Toni Kroos said he was confident Friday's blockbuster Euro 2024 quarter-final against Spain would not be the last game of his career.

Kroos announced in May he would hang up his boots after the Euros on home soil, meaning this week's match in Stuttgart could be his final game.

Real Madrid teammate Joselu said this week he wanted to "send Kroos into retirement" but the 34-year-old midfielder had his sights set on the July 14 Euros final in Berlin.

"We will still be in the tournament for a while," Kroos told reporters on Wednesday at Germany's base camp in the Bavarian village of Herzogenaurach. Read more…
