ADVERTISEMENTS

Ligue 1 - Preview, Broadcast and Streaming info for all games on May 3-6, 2024

The 2023-24 Ligue 1 season has already crowned PSG as champions, but there is still quite a bit to decide in the French top-flight.

This week, the two teams involved in European competitions will see their matches postponed. PSG are still in the title race for the Champions League, while Olympique Marseille just played the first leg of their semi-final tie against Atalanta in the Europa League. This decision will leave only seven matches to play, with most of them having something interesting to decide in the domestic competition.

Monaco, Brest, and Lille will be fighting for the runner-up spot, with only three points separating the second and fourth-ranked teams. Nice and Lens will continue their battle for fifth, trying to take advantage of Marseille's "rest" this weekend.

As for those battling to avoid relegation, Clermont and Lorient are running out of time to save their spot in Ligue 1, something that will force them to win all games to keep their options alive. Le Havre and Metz are level at 29 points, but any slip-ups by these teams could see them fall down the ranks and into the promotion game against a Ligue 2 side.

Here are the main things to keep in mind ahead of this weekend's matches.

Top games to watch

Monaco vs Clermont - The red-and-white side could condemn Clermont to relegation if they are able to beat them this weekend. To make it even more appealing to their cause, they would extend their lead over Brest for second place, even after losing their match last week. On the other hand, Clermont won their first match after four straight games without a victory, and while it may have come a bit late, their chances of staying up rely on them winning games. Will they add one more victory and extend the drama in Ligue 1?

[MATCH 4678936]

Brest vs Nantes - The third-ranked team in France will try to build a new winning streak that hands them the second place one more time, but facing Nantes will not be an easy task. The Canaries are very close to the drop zone, which means they cannot afford to drop points here. Nantes have only won one of their last four, which pales against Brest's three wins in five games, and while anything can happen in a football match, Brest have to be considered favorites to take all the points home.

[MATCH 4678928]

Lille vs Lyon - The last game of the weekend will take place on Monday, with Lille ready to make the most of any slip-up by Monaco or Brest. In case any of those clubs drop points, a win for Lille would see them climb to second place.  Meanwhile, Lyon are two points away from European competition spots, and taking under consideration how they have performed in recent weeks, it would not be weird to see them come out on top. Lille won their most recent league game away from home against Lyon, and beating their rivals one more time would not be that strange.
