Big defensive blow for Sweden as injured Juventus defender will miss the World Cup

Juventus full-back Emil Holm has suffered a muscle injury that is expected to keep him out for several weeks. Given the assessment, Emil Holm will leave the Swedish World Cup squad to continue rehabilitation and will thereby miss the summer's prestigious tournament.

"It is, of course, sad for us and for Emil, who is forced to leave us at this stage. We feel for him and wish him a speedy recovery", says national team captain Graham Potter to the website of the Swedish football federation.

Already in place in Stockholm is Herman Johansson, who now replaces Emil Holm in the World Cup squad.

Ahead of the pending matches against Norway away on 1 June and Greece at home in Solna on 4 June, Graham Potter has called up Sebastian Nanasi from French outfit Strasbourg. Sebastian Nanasi has played nine games with the men's national team and will be a reserve for the World Cup squad.

It is already clear that Viktor Gyökeres, who plays the final in the Champions League on Saturday night with Arsenal, will join the World Cup squad later and is not available for the matches against Norway and Greece.
