Allegri agrees to take charge of Napoli days after AC Milan sacking

The former AC Milan boss is expected to sign a two-year contract, replacing Antonio Conte at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona following the Italian’s departure by mutual consent at the end of the season.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis moved quickly to secure Allegri as his preferred candidate, with negotiations accelerating over the past 24 hours, according to Gianluca Di Marzio

The experienced tactician emerged ahead of other contenders, including Vincenzo Italiano, after an internal selection process aimed at ensuring stability and top-level leadership.

While the agreement on terms is in place, administrative formalities still need to be completed before an official announcement can be made.

Allegri must also resolve his contractual situation following his exit from Milan before finalising his return to the dugout.
