FC Porto coach Farioli says Danish midfielder Froholdt is exceeding all expectations

Victor Froholdt continues to impress at FC Porto. Since the transfer from FC Copenhagen this summer, the 20-year-old midfield orchestrator has played 44 games, scored seven goals, and made six assists.

Again on Sunday, the Dane was decisive when he scored the 3-0 goal in the 3-1 victory over Estoril in the top Portuguese league and subsequently was named Man of the Match.

"Today I want to give the award to a teammate. I think Pepê had a great game; he hadn’t scored in a while, and I don’t think people realize just how good he is. He deserves the award. We came out with the high pressing we wanted, kept the game in their half, especially in the first half. In the second half, we struggled at times, but overall we succeeded with the mentality and game plan we brought into the match", said Froholdt after the game.

After the match, Porto coach Francesco Farioli also did not hide his enthusiasm for Froholdt, who, according to him, is already exceeding all expectations.

"He is an excellent player, and his development since the start of the season has been impressive. He came in as a young player with great potential and quickly settled into the team's dynamic", he said, according to Portuguese media Abola, and continued:

"He has a top attitude and is a player who wants to develop in all areas - both on and off the pitch - with great focus on the details."

Froholdt and FC Porto will be in action on Thursday night when they face Nottingham Forest in the second leg of their clash in the quarter-finals of the Europa League.
