Friday will see Poland and Austria lock horns in a must-win match for both nations. This bottom-of-the-table showdown is scheduled for 12 p.m. this Friday at the Olympiastadion as both sides desperately look to save their Euro 2024 campaign.
Poland enter this game on the back of their gutting defeat to the Netherlands in their Euro 2024 opener, losing 2-1 to the Dutch after conceding a late goal from Wout Weghorst.
The Eagles, who were without talisman forward Robert Lewandowski, took an early lead against Ronald Koeman's side, with Adam Buksa breaking the deadlock after only 16 minutes. Unfortunately for the Polish, they could not hold onto this advantage.
Cody Gakpo drew the game level in the 29th minute before Weghorst landed the dagger in the 83rd minute, with the Burnley striker scoring the winner despite coming off the bench. This leaves Michał Probierz's side in desperate need of a win.
While the four best third-placed teams will progress to the knockout stage, suffering two defeats in their first two matches will leave Poland in tremendous danger of crashing out in the group stage. However, there were a lot of positives from their opening fixture.
The Eagles mustered a handful of shots on the Netherlands' goal despite being without both Robert Lewandowski, who was injured for the first game, and Arkadiusz Milik, who was not fit to even make the squad.

Sabitzer and Co. have scored two or more goals in seven of their last 10 matches across all competitions against the likes of Turkey, Serbia, Germany, Sweden, and Belgium. Das Team could emerge victorious should they repeat their opening-game performance. Only time will tell if this is possible.

Poland: Robert Lewandowski has recovered from his injury but it remains unclear whether he will start or come off the bench. Karol Swiderski, who entered the tournament with an issue of his own, was subbed on in the Netherlands game and should be ready for this tie. Elsewhere, Arsenal man Jakub Kiwior should start in defense while former Gunners keeper Wojciech Tomasz Szczęsny will retain his spot in between the sticks.
Austria: Marko Arnautovic will be hoping for a start after Austria failed to score past the French. Marcel Sabitzer and Konrad Laimer will be in the lineup while Kevin Danso is expected to start at the heart of Rangnick's defense.
