Premiere

Premiere FC is a pay-per-view television channel in Brazil. It was back in 1997 as Premiere Esportes, but it would be renamed as Premiere Futebol Club in 2006. That name would eventually be shortened to Premiere FC in 2011, and the channel would acquire its current name in 2013. It is owned and operated by Globosat, a subsidiary of Grupo Globo, and it has a sister channel called Premiere Clubes, which broadcasts reruns of football games 24/7.

Premiere was created to broadcast live domestic football events. The channel has been able to air over 600 games at one point, thanks to their coverage of several football competitions in the country. These games have been available to watch not only in Brazil, but also in most of the 33 countries where the channel has extended its coverage.

Over the years, Premiere has been able to air games for the top football competitions in the country, such as the Brasileirao Serie A and the Brasileirao Serie B. Other tournaments that have been available on this platform include the Copa do Brasil and regional championships such as the Pernambucano Championship, the Campeonato Gaucho, and the Paulista Championship. Overflow coverage is not a problem for Premiere, as the channel and its partners may open as many as eight overflow channels to keep up with all live games taking place at the same time.

Premiere was initially launched under a Standard Definition format, but a High Definition feed was made available in 2011. All of Premiere’s overflow channels are also available in HD.
