Amazon Prime Video

Amazon Prime Video is an American video on demand service launched by Amazon on September 7, 2006 as Amazon Unbox. The service offers films, television shows, and original content.

Speaking about the German version, the service is available for a monthly subscription fee. It has offered films from some of the top movie studios in Hollywood, while adding content from channels such as MGM, Starzplay and Eurosport.

Amazon Prime started purchasing broadcasting rights for sports events in 2017. Its first purchase of the sort came when they bought non-exclusive rights to stream portions of NFL’s Thursday Night Football games. Amazon would later go on to acquire British television rights for the ATP Tour. Added to that, Amazon also managed to strike a deal with the English Premier League to stream a limited number of games per season. The platform may also have some international matches available, as a deal to air a limited amount of UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League may be available in Germany.

Amazon Prime Video can be accessed on devices such as the following: mobile phones and tablets working on Android and iOS, Smart TVs, Roku devices, video game consoles such as Wii, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Amazon Kindle Fire, Amazon Fire TV and Apple TV, to name a few options. Amazon Prime Video supports up to 4K and High Dynamic Range (HDR) streaming, but an HD and SD feed is also available for some products.
