Graham Potter names 26-man Sweden squad for the World Cup

Potter has elected to name the 26 players he intends to take to the finals in North America, as opposed to a wider preliminary squad. The announcement comes a little over one month before Sweden kick off their Group F campaign in Mexico against Tunisia on 14th June.

Liverpool striker Alexander Isak is one of seven players who missed Sweden's play-offs against Ukraine and Poland in March to have been recalled to the squad. Isak Hien and Eric Smith, who both left the camp before the Poland match through injury, have also been named.

Alexander Bernhardsson and Emil Holm are among those who have returned to fitness in time to take their place, but the tournament has come too soon for Dejan Kulusevski - the long-term Tottenham absentee has not been selected.

A surprise omission is Roony Bardghji, who made 26 appearances in his debut campaign with Barcelona. Another Spain-based attacker, Williot Swedberg, has also missed the cut.

In goal, Potter has recalled Viktor Johansson and Jacob Widell Zetterstrom, both of whom missed the March international window. They are expected to be back-ups to Kristoffer Nordfeldt, but there is not place for Noel Tornqvist and Melker Ellborg.

Nordfeldt, Taha Ali and Elliot Stroud are the three Allsvenskan players heading to the World Cup. Stroud and Smith have been named despite not having a senior cap to their names.
