Primera División Argentina - How to watch and stream Week 2: May 17-21, 2024

Another grueling Primera División season in Argentina has begun, leaving some of the most popular teams dumbfounded after last week's games and giving some others a chance to shine.

In what turned out to be quite an interesting first week, there was only one draw in the Argentine top-flight last week, with a whopping thirteeen teams winning the rest of the games. Out of those, River Plate, Gimnasia, Huracán, and Talleres got the better part of their matches by winning and scoring three goals each, but teams such as Boca Juniors, San Lorenzo, and Lanús dropped points last week and need to go back to the drawing board to find the right tacticts that will keep them in the race to win the title.

Here is everything you need to know ahead of the second week of action in the Argentine championship.

Top games to watch

River Plate vs Belgrano - The defending champions kicked off the 2024 season with a bang, winning their first game with an emphatic 3-0 score against Central Córdoba. Now, Martín Demichelis will face a slightly more complicated game when they face Belgrano, who were part of a roller-coaster of a match that ended in a four-all draw against Racing. The most recent game between these teams ended 2-1 for Los Millonarios back in December, which could be a sign of things to come on Saturday.

Central Córdoba vs Boca Juniors - Los Xeneizes did not start the season properly due to their 1-0 loss to Atlético Tucumán. Now, with their second road game coming, Diego Martínez's men will try to give fans a better performance when they visit Central Córdoba, River's rival in Round 1 and who have lost two in a row against the Blue and Yellow side. Boca's most recent away game against Central ended 3-0 in their favor, but given how both teams started the season, things could be a lot different this time around.

[MATCH 4876931]

San Lorenzo vs Lanús - Two of the best teams in previous season also kicked off the 2024 campaign with defeats, making this game even more relevant for their hopes. San Lorenzo lost their first game against Deportivo Riestra, while Lanús dropped the ball against Independiente Rivadavia, who beat them two-nil at Ciudad de Lanús Stadium. These teams faced each other back in January and Lanús beat San Lorenzo two-nil, which may prompt San Lorenzo to try and get some payback against El Granate.
