The end of the regular season in Liga MX is here, and while eight teams will have to bid farewell and start preparing for a busy second half of the year, the remaining ten clubs will keep their hopes up in their title quest.
As things stand, there is something to play for in practically every game. The only exception to this is the clash between Santos and San Luis, who are both eliminated from the playoffs. There is much ground to cover, and we will try to make it easy for you so everything is clear if you are a casual Liga MX fan or if you are a diehard fan of the Mexican top-flight.
As things stand, América, Toluca, or Cruz Azul will end the regular season as the top team. América play first, but the good news for the defending champions is that only Los Diablos or La Máquina could challenge their lead, since they will face each other this weekend. Whoever losses will have to be wary of Monterrey, who could still make it to No. 2 if they win their game and América drop the ball.
The other six spots are up for grabs between seven teams: Tigres, Pachuca, Guadalajara, Necaxa, Querétaro, Pumas UNAM, and León still have a chance to reach the playoffs or the play-in round, although the last three need to win their games to secure a spot and one of them will most likely be left out of the race. It could be a hectic Saturday since Tigres, who are now fifth, could drop to eighth if those behind them win their respective matches.

Top games to watch
Puebla vs América - Las Águilas could have secured the top spot for them last week, but an unexpected loss to Pumas will force them to go out with their full arsenal to claim pole position. Facing them will be Puebla, the team with the worst record in Liga MX, and who have only won once this season. In regular circumstances, there should be no problem for América to take the points home, but since we are talking about Liga MX, we have to tell you that all bets are off when predicting the winner of this game.

Toluca vs Cruz Azul - The ultimate showdown between two title contenders takes place at the Nemesio Díez. Toluca bounced back from their 5-1 loss to América with a similar score against San Luis last week, while Cruz Azul rescued one point against Atlas after being down two-nil for the first 45 minutes. The winner of this game could end the regular season at the top of the table in case América drop the ball on Friday. In fact, Toluca could top the table if they draw and América lose, but by the time they play against each other, both sides will know what their options are.

Atlas vs Guadalajara - This heated rivalry between two teams from Guadalajara carries a special meaning for the hosts, who hope to complicate Guadalajara's playoff quest. Atlas are already planning next season, but if they can beat their bitter rivals, it would count as a major W for Beñat San José's men and who knows, it could give some of their players a chance to stick around for next season. On the other hand, a win could see Guadalajara squeeze into the top three, but they need quite a few results in their favor to see that happening.
