After, Pep Guardiola's men narrowly edged out Tottenham 1-0 in the fourth round, before overpowering Luton Town 6-2 in the fifth round. They were mostly in control as they battled to a 2-0 win over Newcastle in the quarter-finals, which now leads them to their upcoming showdown with Chelsea in the semi-finals on Saturday.
Chelsea: The Blues haven't had the smoothest ride to this juncture. Although they cruised to a 4-0 win over Preston North End in the third round, they had to play their fourth round fixture against Aston Villa twice after the first meeting ended as a 0-0 draw. After finally defeating their opponents 3-1 in the replay, Mauricio Pochettino's side had to really fight to secure 3-2 and 4-2 wins over Leeds United and Leicester City in the fifth round and quarter-finals respectively and will likely face a tough test against reigning FA Cup champions Manchester City in the semi-finals.
Manchester United: The Red Devils come into their upcoming semi-final showdown having survived a nervy and tense battle against Liverpool in the quarter-finals, but eventually prevailed 4-3. Prior to that, Erik ten Hag's men also had to dig deep to grind out a gritty 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest in the fifth round, and despite looking mostly in control during their third round and fourth round victories over Wigan Athletic (2-0) and Newport Country (4-2), they surely will not be taking Coventry City too lightly when they face off in the semi-finals on Sunday.
Coventry City: The Sky Blues are this year's Cinderella story, and are the only non Premier League team still afloat in the competition. After beating Oxford United 6-2 in the third round, Mark Robins' squad had to play Sheffield United twice after drawing 1-1 in the fourth round, but were able to get things right and move onto the fifth round following a 4-1 win in the replay. Maidstone United presented no real challenge as Coventry cruised to a 5-0 win, but it was their performance against Wolves in the quarter-finals that has really gotten fans talking. For all intents and purposes, it looked like Coventry's dream had ended after Wolves took a 2-1 lead in the first minute, but the underdogs managed to score two goals in extra time to turn the tie on its head and are now into the semi-finals for the first time in nearly 40 years.
