AC Oulu back on top of Veikkausliiga by ending KuPS' unbeaten start

AC Oulu 2-0 KuPS

KuPS were responsible for ending AC Oulu's unbeaten start, and things seemed to be unravelling when they were beaten by Lahti last time out, but they bounced back superbly at home against the title holders, going ahead just four minutes in.

A mix up at the back between goalkeeper Johannes Kreidl and Kasim Adams saw the defender hook the ball straight to Rasmus Karjalainen, who sent a 35-yard volley sailing over the goalkeeper and into the back of the empty net.

The second arrived 19 minutes from time, when Lamine Ghezali picked up his own attempted through ball after it was blocked, before carrying the ball into the KuPS area and firing in from a tight angle.

With a couple of minutes to play, Bob Armah was dismissed for a second bookable offence, ending a sour afternoon for the Kuopio side, who have now won just one of their last four matches, dropping to third place.

Jaro 2-2 TPS

Newly-promoted TPS are one of now just two sides still unbeaten thanks to a 90th-minute equaliser away at Jaro, who were denied a first win and have now drawn four matches in a row.

Patient build-up play in the 32nd minute resulted in Mats Pedersen slipping the ball through for Herman Sjogrell to finish coolly and give Jaro a lead that lasted until first-half added time, when a corner was knocked down by Matej Hradecky for Albijon Muzaci to stab home a leveller.

Sjogrell gave the home side their second lead of the game nine minutes into the second half from the penalty spot after a poor challenge by Oscar Haggstrom, but again the Turku side hit back at the end of the half, as a high ball looped into the area was headed across by Eeti Turkki for Theodoros Tsirigotis to nod in. TPS sit fourth, three points off the top, with Jaro back in ninth place.

Mariehamn 0-1 VPS

Another of the four sides still searching for a first league win of the year are Mariehamn, who went down 1-0 at home to a VPS side who have recorded back-to-back victories.

The only goal of the game came midway through the first half, when a low cross from the right side wasn't dealt with by the home defence and Paulo Lima was on hand to bundle it over the line.

That goal was enough to take the Vaasa side into the top half, with Mariehamn sit one from bottom on two points having lost two in succession.

SJK 1-1 Ilves

The two team facing off in Seinajoki could not be separated at full-time, despite visitors Ilves leading for 90 minutes against SJK.

The Tampere side took the lead after just 52 seconds when Maksim Stjopin picked up a loose ball in midfield, carried it 30 yards and struck it into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.

For so long that looked to be enough for a first win of the season, but in the first minute of added time, Jeremiah Streng's header from a cross was saved by Faris Krkalic, but following in to stab home the equaliser was Rangel, ensuring it's two draws in a row for eighth-placed SJK.
