Eight years later and Portugal are in fantastic shape to win it again, with Cristiano scoring a historic 35 goals in 31 appearances for Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League while the national team enjoyed a sensational qualifying campaign.
Roberto Martinez's men were the only ones with a perfect record in the qualifiers, winning all 10 fixtures. Additionally, Portugal conceded only twice throughout their qualifying campaign, with both goals coming against Serbia, who finished second in the group.
However, the Portuguese have suffered a few disappointing results. While the Euro 2016 champions beat the Republic of Ireland 3-0 in their most recent fixture, with Cristiano scoring a brilliant brace, the team lost 2-1 to Croatia in the game before that.
A Seleção also lost 2-0 to Slovenia in a friendly in March, showing that they are not invincible. Nonetheless, Martinez boasts one of the most star-studded squads in the tournament and should enter Tuesday's fixture with tremendous confidence.
The Czech Republic, on the other hand, enter Euro 2024 on the back of a lovely five-game winning streak, though a handful of those victories came against minnows.

The Czech Republic went unbeaten in all but one of their eight matches, winning four and drawing three to finish level on points with Albania in Group E — but behind due to their head-to-head record.
Schick and Co. will aim to make the knockout stage in a European Championship for the second time in a row, having reached the quarterfinals in Euro 2020 following their group-stage exit in 2016. However, the central European nation will need to bring their A-game to accomplish this.
