Iconic captain Patrick Mortensen leaves AGF after winning first Danish title in 40 years

Lifting the Danish championship trophy at Ceres Park Vejlby was the last action in the white shirt for Patrick Mortensen. AGF's captain and striker since 2019, who, after 265 matches for AGF, has now decided to continue his career elsewhere after his contract expires this summer.

"I have been in good talks with AGF, but after consulting with my family - now concluded that my last time as a footballer will be somewhere other than Aarhus.

"As everyone knows, AGF and Aarhus have meant an incredible amount to me both as a footballer and as a person, and I take the best memories and the strongest feelings for the club, the city, and our fantastic fans with me."

"I owe everyone the biggest thanks for what they have given my family and me, and to have lifted the championship trophy for AGF here at the end will always be the biggest thing for me", says 36-year-old Patrick Mortensen, who with 115 goals in the white shirt is the second highest scoring AGF player in history to become an Aarhusian club legend.
