Rapid Vienna sign Silkeborg striker Tonni Adamsen on two-year contract

"I'm glad that everything worked out and that we have found a good agreement after a long time. I'm really looking forward to my new teammates and the club, the first training sessions, and to the new task here in Vienna", says Adamsen to the club website.

Rapid Vienna, who finished in fifth place in the Austrian Bundesliga last season, is coached by the Dane Johannes Hoff Thorup.

The club's sporting director, Markus Katzer, says that Adamsen has been a desired player for the club and that he is very happy that the parties have reached an agreement, even though the Dane also had other attractive options.

"It is certainly an advantage that our coach, Johannes Hoff Thorup, has followed the player for years and knows his qualities extremely well. He also very much wanted to bring Adamsen, and therefore it is extra gratifying that we can now welcome another seasoned, goal-threatening and strong character to the squad", says Katzer to the club's website.

The 37-year-old Johannes Hoff Thorup is a former head coach at FC Nordsjaellland and arrived at Rapid Vienna in January after also having spent time at Norwich in England.

Adamsen has been in Silkeborg since transferring from FC Helsingor in the summer of 2022. Since then, he has developed into a profile for the team with 156 games, 65 goals, and 24 assists. This season, he played a decisive role in ensuring Silkeborg's survival in the Super League.

Rapid Vienna has won 32 championships, with the latest in the 2007/08 season. Since then, Austrian football has been particularly dominated by Red Bull Salzburg, while Sturm Graz and, most recently, LASK Linz have won the championship in recent years.
