Barcelona manager Hansi Flick signs two-year contract extension

"In just two seasons at FC Barcelona, Flick has already written himself into the club's history with titles, records, and a clear vision for the future," read a statement from the Catalans.

Flick had already verbally confirmed last week that he would continue to be in charge of the club. His previous contract was valid until 2027, but after clinching the league title early, he stated that he was in the "right place here" and said he was determined to win the Champions League with the Blaugrana.

According to media reports, Barca president Joan Laporta hinted that he would like to keep Flick until the end of his term in 2031. However, the German prefers shorter contracts.

Flick took over at Barca in 2024. Alongside two league titles, he also celebrated a cup victory with the club last year. In the current Champions League campaign, Barcelona were eliminated in the quarter-finals by Atletico Madrid.

"The German coach has built a competitive team that remains true to the club's identity, dominates domestic football, and can once again secure a place among Europe's elite," the statement continued: "With the contract extension, FC Barcelona ensures continuity for both the coach and the project."
