Swedish key striker in danger of missing out on vital World Cup qualifier against Denmark

Swedish national team coach Tony Gustavsson confirms that the Chelsea-striker is at a big risk of missing out on the match.

"I haven't closed the door completely, but I want to be honest with you and with her", he says, according to Swedish media Fotbollskanalen.

A small calf injury kept Johanna Rytting Kaneryd out of Chelsea's Champions League quarter-final second leg against Arsenal earlier in the month, and her progress is now being monitored carefully.

Rytting Kaneryd has been spotted training on his own during the build-up for the clash. Now Sweden's national team coach, Tony Gustavsson, confirms that he doesn't count on her participation in the game, even though the final announcement will come after a meeting with the medical team on Monday evening.

"Regardless of what message I get tonight, there is an extremely low probability that we will see her tomorrow. We also have other attacking players who have trained for a whole week and are in match shape," says Gustavsson, who further says that it will be a huge challenge to replace the Chelsea striker.

"I will be honest and say that it is a challenge. There are many challenges, and it is clear that there is a limit to how much this group can take. With new players in, rotation, and young players. Not least when it comes to leadership, then I don't just mean the football qualities, but we have worked very hard on that", says Gustavsson.

The Swedish national team coach says that BK Häckens Monica Jusu Bah is a possible option to replace Rytting Kaneryd:

"Those of you who have seen training this week have seen that she has done a few minutes on the right. This is a player who we believe can play both positions. She is definitely an option there, too."

Sweden and Denmark will clash at the Gamla Ullevi Arena in Gothenburg on Tuesday evening at 19.00 CET
