Schjelderup still uncertain he will obtain World Cup visa after suspended prison sentence

Judge Mathias Eike gave Schjelderup a two-week suspended prison sentence, meaning he will only have to serve time in jail if found guilty of another crime during the next 12 months.

However, the conviction, involving minors, could be classified as "moral turpitude" by U.S. authorities, making entry difficult without a waiver.

Danish lawyer Martin Dahlgaard indicated that a suspended sentence makes it difficult to obtain a U.S. visa. If Schjelderup does not already possess a valid visa, he would have to apply through the American Embassy in Oslo, where the criminal conviction could hinder approval.

Andreas Schjelderup says that he is still uncertain whether he will be allowed to travel to the USA in June for the tournament.

An application has been submitted. I don't know more than that. I hope it will be resolved, and those are also the indications I have received, but I don't know more than that. I can't do anything about it", says Schjelderup to TV2.no.

Norway, in November last year, qualified for the 2026 World Cup after a 4-1 win away to Italy in their final qualifying match. Schjelderup was an unused substitute for the match in Milan.
