Two bizarre moments greeted Atletico Madrid's Diego Costa in a space of six minutes during Tuesday's crucial encounter with Barcelona. The 30-year-old Spanish striker found himself missing a spot-kick after scoring in his own net to hand the Catalans the lead.
Firstly, the former Chelsea striker kept his side in the game in the 10th minute by clearing a low freekick by Lionel Messi while guarding the near post. However, the attacker ended up redirecting a cornerkick from the Argentine into his own net after the ball had eluded the heads of Sergio Busquets and Thomas Partey.

Moments later, Atletico got the opportunity to grab an equalizer after Arturo Vidal had hacked down Yannick Carrasco in the Blaugrana's penalty area. Costa subsequently stepped up to take the kick but saw his effort being saved by ter Stegen. A brief VAR check revealed that the German goalkeeper had stepped off his line before making the save. Parity was later restored with Saul converting the second attempt.
