PSV's Ismael Saibari crowned Player of the Year, MIka Godts wins Talent of the Year

Saibari, 25, was a big star in a dominant PSV team that won the league by a record margin of 19 points. The Spanish-born Moroccan midfielder scored 15 goals and provided 8 assists in 27 games for the Eindhoven giants.

Saibari's finest moment came in October, when PSV visited leaders Feyenoord, trailing by three points. Saibari led PSV to a crucial win by scoring a hat-trick and took PSV to the top spot, which they would not let go of for the rest of the season.

After another strong season, it's looking likely that Saibari will leave PSV after the upcoming FIFA World Cup. In an interview with ESPN, Saibari was grateful for receiving the award: "After winning the league three times, this is the cherry on top."

The Morocco international was picked ahead of teammate Joey Veerman, Ajax's Mika Godts, NEC's Tjaronn Chery, and Heerenveen's Jacob Trenskow.

The Eredivisie Player of the Year is voted for by the captains of the 18 Eredivisie teams, who voted for Saibari in numbers, ESPN said.

Mika Godts awarded

Ajax starlet Mika Godts was the recipient of the Johan Cruyff Talent of the Year award. The Belgian winger had a breakout season with the struggling Amsterdam giants, scoring 17 goals and providing 12 assists, making him the most valuable player in the Dutch league.

Godts was voted Talent of the Year by the managers of the 18 Eredivisie clubs and was awarded the trophy by mentor and former striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar. “You brought me to Ajax and put your trust in me; I’ll be eternally grateful to you for that," Godts told Huntelaar during the award ceremony.

Ajax finished fifth in a historically bad season and eventually reached the second round of the UEFA Conference League qualifiers by beating FC Groningen and FC Utrecht in the play-offs.

Godts narrowly beat Kees Smit (AZ) to the award, while Dies Janse (FC Groningen), Sami Ouaissa (NEC Nijmegen), and Mats Rots (FC Twente) were also nominated.

Excelsior's Gyan de Regt won the Goal of the Year award for his bicycle kick against Fortuna Sittard in October.
