Imperious PSV cruise to comfortable win over Go Ahead Eagles

PSV started the away game in Deventer with Noah Fernandez in midfield instead of Joey Veerman, as manager Peter Bosz wants to see young players on the pitch with the championship in the bag.

After being denied a penalty early on, champions PSV took the lead inside 20 minutes via Ivan Perisic, who masterfully headed it in the far corner from way out in the box.

It took the Eagles minutes to get back alongside PSV - Jakob Breum was brought down in the box by Sildillia, after which Mathis Suray converted from the spot after 25 minutes.

Just as it looked like the two sides were headed into the break all square, Ricardo Pepi stepped up to restore PSV's lead seconds before half-time.

PSV dominated the second half, with Guus Til and in-form Esmir Bajraktarevic taking Jari De Busser under fire several times, but keeping the one-goal lead intact for the time being.

Captain Perisic stepped up a second time and earned PSV their first two-goal cushion of the afternoon, surprising De Busser with a shot at his near post.

A gift from Dean James allowed Paul Wanner to put the 4-1 on the scoreboard, giving PSV another resounding Eredivisie win.

PSV extended their imperious lead at the Eredivisie summit to 19 points and will conclude their season with a home game against third-placed FC Twente on Sunday, May 17th.
