Liga MX - Preview, TV Schedules and Streaming info for Matchday 1

It has been just over a month since the previous Liga MX tournament came to an end, and given their tight schedule for the next sixt months, the league's officers decided to speed things up and start the competition as soon as possible.

On May 26, América claimed a second league title in a row, which is why the team in yellow and blue will start the tournament as favorites to win an unprecedented three-peat. Nonetheless, the road to a new title will not be easy since teams such as Cruz Azul, Monterrey, or their classic rivals Guadalajara will want to stand in their way.

Things will get going in Mexico's top football category with three games on Friday, followed up by four more on Saturday and a couple on Sunday. Here are the most relevant games to keep an eye on.

Top games to watch

Puebla vs Santos Laguna - Usually, this game would not attract many viewers, but since this will be the opening match of the season, this clash will be worth watching. Puebla were the worst team in the Clausura 2024 tournament, while Santos will begin their first season under Nacho Ambriz, one of the best Mexican coaches in the competition. The game will be held at Estadio Cuauhtémoc on Friday evening.

Atlético San Luis vs América - The defending champions start their quest to win a third title in a row, and they do so where everything started in Liga MX for their coach. San Luis will welcome América under new management, which may be enough reason to keep an eye on them. Meanwhile, Las Águilas will start the competition with some major absences, which could be enough reason for them to have a rocky start. This will be the first of four games being played on Saturday, and the first being played at Alfonso Lastras Stadium this season.

Pachuca vs Monterrey - The final game of the weekend could turn out to be the most interesting, as both Pachuca and Rayados are considered title contenders for this campaign. Rayados have been quite active during the summer by adding some talented footballers to their ranks, while Pachuca will have to adjust to the exits of some of their top players and due to the absence of their top scorer, who is still playing for Venezuela. The final match of the weekend will be played at Estadio Hidalgo this Sunday.
