'Genuine possibility' Guardiola could depart Manchester City after season

Man City thrashed Crystal Palace 3-0 on Wednesday night to move two points behind the Gunners.

The Cityzens need to win their final two games against Bournemouth and Aston Villa, while hoping Mikel Arteta's men drop points in either clash against Burnley or Palace.

Nonetheless, it isn't just a fascinating title race that is dominating the headlines, as there is a "genuine possibility" that Guardiola could depart City after a decade-long stay in the summer.

That is according to The Athletic's Sam Lee, who claims that "several different sources in different departments around the City first team" are anticipating his departure.

Man City are already preparing for the day when the legendary Spaniard eventually leaves the club, and Enzo Maresca is a top contender to take over.

Speculation over his future has been heightened by fitness coach Lorenzo Buenaventura confirming he will leave City at the end of the campaign, having worked with Guardiola for more than 15 years.

Buenaventura and Guardiola are said to be "extremely close," with the fitness coach working to ensure the physical work done on the training ground perfectly complements how Guardiola wants the players to perform on the pitch.

In addition, any announcement over the manager's future would surely come before the end of the season - as mentioned in the above report - so the club can give him a proper farewell against Villa on May 24th, alongside departing duo John Stones and Bernardo Silva.
