Late comeback gives Midtjylland crucial win in top clash to move within two points of AGF

After taking the lead after 19 minutes, AGF seemed in full control. But a big mistake by goalkeeper Jesper Hansen and a goal in injury time by Julius Emefile ensured a 2-1 victory for FC Midtjylland in a crazy finish in Herning.

AGF's lead at the top of the table has thus been limited to two points. There are five rounds of play left in the season.

The result was a nightmare for AGF, who were the better team for much of the match, but lost it all in the end.

First, goalkeeper Jesper Hansen fisted the ball into his own net with six minutes left to play. And two minutes into injury time, substitute Emefile threw himself forward and headed the ball past Hansen to earn the home side an unlikely win.

AGF had otherwise taken the lead after 19 minutes when a free kick was flicked on to the onrushing Henrik Dalsgaard, who in two attempts drilled the ball past Midtjylland keeper Elias Olafsson from close range.

The referee initially disallowed the goal for offside, but a VAR check established that the ball for Dalsgaard was flicked on by a player from FC Midtjylland.

AGF coach Jakob Poulsen had demanded high pressure and man coverage over most of the pitch and that paid dividends for most of the match for the well-organized visitors who almost had the gold medals within sight but lost it all in the end.
