Primera División Argentina - Standings prior to Week 8

[TABLE 30]

The Argentine Primera División will have an extended matchday that will go on for the next three days. Even if that should be enough to give fans their money's worth, there will be two additional fixtures on Wednesday, which will keep all teams with the same number of matches throughout the season.

Over the past few games, there have not been many changes at the top of the competition, with Huracán, Unión, and Talleres holding on to the top spots of the league. However, the most popular teams have struggled quite a bit, with one of them even getting their coach into sacking rumors.

The Argentine Football Association has scheduled sixteen games for the next five days, but here is a brief selection for you to follow. Have a look at everything you need to know ahead of the next few days in the Argentine championship.

Top games to watch

Rosario Central vs Huracán - The first game to keep an eye on will feature one of the teams in the leading pack against Rosario Central, who are yet to find their feet in the tournament but have managed to stay unbeaten in their last five games (two wins, three draws). El Globo has beaten the yellow and blue in four of their last six meetings, including a 2-0 win in their most recent game back in March.

[MATCH 4877023]

River Plate vs Sarmiento - Los Millonarios have struggled to win games even before the break, and now, with no victories in their last thre games (one draw, two losses), discussions over Martin Demichelis' job have started to emerge. With that in mind, their game against Sarmiento could be crucial, as the manager's job could be on the line. River Plate have won three out of their last four against El Verdolaga, but their last game at the Monumental ended ina 2-1 win for the away side. Will we see a similar story this weekend?

[MATCH 4877025]

Unión Santa Fe vs Rosario Central - The red and white side make it to this game in second place, but that could change over the course of the weekend if they play their cards right. For this clash against Rosario, El Tate will be defending a seven-game streak without a loss against Los Canallas, who have failed to collect all the points when facing Unión since February 2018. Union's last win against Central came in 2021, in a game where the hosts claimed a 3-1 win.

[MATCH 4968723]

Boca Juniors vs Banfield - Following their win in the Copa Sudamericana, Los Xeneizes will be facing Instituto over the weekend. Nonetheless, their big match of the week will come on Wednesday, when they host Banfield at La Bombonera. This will not be an easy match for Diego Martínez's men since they have not been able to win any of their last three against El Taladro. With only three points standing between them, this could prove to be a big game ahead of their future in the competition and a good chance to climb back to the upper half of the table.
