Lazio snatch stoppage-time win to leave Cremonese on the brink of relegation

The hosts struggled to create anything in the opening stages as Lazio spurned a key chance when Oliver Provstgaard nodded across the face of goal from Mattia Zaccagni’s floated free-kick, in what was a one-sided first 20 minutes.

However, despite struggling to gain a foothold in the contest, Cremonese were gifted an opener just before the half-hour mark. Federico Bonazzoli’s low 20-yard strike appeared to be a routine stop for Lazio goalkeeper Edoardo Motta, but the Italy U21 star misjudged the strike, and it flew past him at the last second.

Buoyed by his eighth league goal of the campaign, Bonazzoli tested Motta with an audacious bicycle kick just before the break, as a frustrated Lazio headed in behind at half-time.

The Biancazzurri were stirred into a response after the restart as Alessio Romagnoli’s towering header was blocked by Emil Audero on 50 minutes.

That proved to be a warning from Maurizio Sarri’s side as Nuno Tavares' lung-busting run from inside his own half scattered Cremonese’s defence. His lay-off was nudged on by Tijjani Noslin and Gustav Isaksen calmly steered home a close-range equaliser.

Sensing a chance to win the game, both Sarri and Marco Giampaolo made changes in the closing stages - including a cameo for Jamie Vardy following an injury.

However, it was Lazio who snatched victory in added time as Noslin whipped home from the edge of the box.
