AIK find no way past unbeatable Dahlin as Malmo hold on for win in Solna

Two historic clubs with 36 Swedish titles between them began this season determined to return to at least the podium places in the Allsvenskan under their new respective Spanish managers after disappointing 2025 campaigns. More immediately, both were aiming for a quick turnaround after suffering their first defeats of the season last midweek.

Neither contest between the two produced a goal last term, and both sides looked to utilise the wings in the opening exchanges, but the defences repelled the crosses that came their way, before AIK's Bersant Celina fired the first shot well over after eight minutes.

Soon after, Taha Ali jinked his way past home defenders before the ball fell kindly to Sead Haksabanovic on the edge of the area, his shot was deflected wide and from the resulting corner, Malmo worked it back to the Montenegrin in the same position, and this time his low effort curled a whisker wide.

AIK fans have been excited about the prospects of young winger Zadok Yohanna, and he showed some promise 18 minutes in with a quick hit that stung the gloves of Johan Dahlin, before the visiting goalkeeper got fingertips to an Abdihakim Ali effort after the midfielder turned his man superbly.

But just when the home side looked to be on top, the fell behind in the 25th minute, as Otto Rosengren strode through the heart of AIK territory, and when his shot was kept out by the diving Kristoffer Nordfeldt, Haksabanovic kept the ball alive at the byline, crossing into the danger area for Erik Botheim to nod in his second of the season.

Passionate celebrations from MFF's head coach Miguel Angel Ramirez sent home tempers ablaze, but once they had calmed, AIK regained control and came close to an equaliser when Yohanna arced the ball over the top corner, then Amel Mujanic's tame shot was easy meat for Dahlin.

Malmo's best chance to double their lead before half-time came in the form of a powerful low drive from Yanis Karabelyov, but Sweden's number one, Nordfeldt, got down well to keep it out, but the one-goal lead at the break was enough once Dahlin parried Mujanic's strike after he was played in by Taha Ayari.

Incredibly, Gnaget hadn't scored against Malmo in their last five meetings, and their efforts to change that in the opening 10 minutes of the second half were fruitless, as despite good pressure, they couldn't unlock the Himmelsblatt defence. When the visitors did finally push up, AIK began to get frustrated, with Mujanic receiving a booking for a foul on Ali.

Malmo, however, looked vulnerable at the back, giving the ball away to substitute Erik Flataker at the edge of their area, and when the forward's effort was blocked, Yohanna followed up but missed the target. Rosengren was then twice the hero around the hour mark, making key interceptions inside the six-yard box.

Entering the final 20 minutes, a Celina strike looked destined for the back of the net before Andrej Djuric got his head to it, before the Kosovo winger latched onto a long ball over the top, but Dahlin did well to close down the shot.

The final 10 minutes saw Malmo come under constant bombardment - a poor punch from Dahlin presented a volleying chance for Ibrahim Cisse, but the 'keeper recovered to save. Centre back Cisse was playing as a makeshift centre-forward when he had a downward header clutched by Dahlin moments later, before the 39-year-old improved his bid for the Man of the Match award by tipping over a deflected Aron Csongvai strike from th edge of the area.

Deep into the five minutes of added time, Yohanna looked to have salvaged a point for AIK, but there was no beating Dahlin this evening - he was a full stretch once again to turn it past the post, as Malmo survived a backs-to-the-wall job and took all three points at the national stadium.

It's a first loss in Solna under Jose Riveiro for AIK, who remain on seven points in the standings, as Malmo reach double figures after five matches.
