Serie A: Preview and Broadcast details for all May 17-20, 2024 games

When this weekend comes to an end, the 2023-24 Serie A season will come to an end. Nonetheless, there are many issues to sort out before the season is done.

The only three teams that have secured their spots in the season are Inter, Milan, and Salernitana. Both teams from Milan will be ranked first and second when the season comes over, while the club from Salerno has been relegated and condemned to 20th place. The rest of the spots are up for grabs, with many of those possibly being sorted out this weekend.

Speaking of which, the remaining spots to play UEFA Champions League football next season will see a crucial battle taking place this weekend, with the most surprising team of the season getting ready to face a former title contender.

Additionally, the final moments of the relegation battle will take place in coming days, as six teams are still trying to avoid the drop in the last two games of what has turned out to be a great Serie A campaign.

Here are the main things to keep in mind ahead of this weekend's matches.

Serie A standings ahead of this weekend

[TABLE 39]

Top games to watch

Inter vs Lazio - The nerazzurri have struggled to beat Lazio during Simone Inzaghi's era, losing two key games in the two previous seasons. Right now, the champions are looking for a fourth win against the team from the Italian capital, and if they can do that, they would give Lazio a huge blow in their Champions League hopes. Lazio have a slim shot at catching up with Atalanta in fifth place, but it will all come down to this game where a loss could determine their fate and send them to the Europa League...or maybe not even that.

[MATCH 4695226]

Roma vs Genoa - The giallorossi seem destined to play Europa League football next season, but the small glimmer of hope to be involved in the Champions League has to do with them winning both of their remaining fixtures. Their first clash will be against Genoa, who are far away from the relegation zone and with slim chances of playing Conference League games next season. A win for any of these teams will keep their options alive for the grand finale, but a loss or draw would damage their cause prominently.

[MATCH 4695229]

Bologna vs Juventus - The bianconeri claimed the Coppa Italia title this week, and those who end up staying with the team next season will get ready to face who could be their boss next season. Thiago Motta's Bologna will welcome the most-winning team in Serie A history with the same amount of points with two games to play, and a win would almost confirm their best season in this category since the 1970-71 campaign, when they finished fifth. As for Juventus, this could be one of the final games for Max Allegri heading Juve...that is if the team's board does not sack him for his strange behavior following the team's Coppa win.
