Champions Mjallby beaten by new boys Orgryte as Hacken win Gothenburg derby

Mjallby 0-2 Orgryte

Orgryte's return to the top flight had already begun brightly with a draw against Malmo, but things got even better by becoming the first side to win an Allsvenskan game at Strandvallen since 2024.

Tobias Sana's pass infield was picked up only 10 yards into Mjallby's half by Anton Andreasson, who kept running and running before his deflected finish evaded Robin Wallinder in the hosts goal and put Orgryte ahead after 21 minutes.

Five minutes later, MAIF failed to clear a corner and the ball bobbling around their penalty area was nodded forward by Mikael Dyrestam, and Jerome Tibbling beat Wallinder to the loose ball to poke home a second goal from six yards.

Abdoulie Manneh saw a pair of efforts expertly blocked early in the second half before Aki Samuelsen's free-kick was tipped around the post by Hampus Gustafsson, as Mjallby failed to find a route back into the game and fell to successive losses without scoring in the league under Karl Marius Aksum.

Goteborg 0-2 Hacken

Local bragging rights went to Hacken on matchday two as they won the first Gothenburg derby of the season, beating Goteborg 2-0 on the road as the hosts finished with 10 men.

A swift attack in the 17th minute set the tone, as the ball was swept wide to Julius Lindberg on the left, who squared the ball across the Goteborg six-yard box for Gustav Lindgren to tap home.

The hosts had the perfect chance to level midway through the first half, when Filip Helander hauled down Adam Bergmark-Wiberg inside the area, but Tobias Heintz sent his penalty wide.

Lindberg missed a glorious chance to double the lead in the second half, but Hacken finally wrapped up the points six minutes from time, when Amor Layouni fired a cross over from the left wing, and Mikkel Rygaard stretched to meet the ball on the volley, cushioning it into the net.

Late on, Rockson Yeboah was shown a straight red card for catching Sanders Ngabo in the midriff with his knee, compounding a tough afternoon for IFK, who join Mjallby on zero points after two games.

Vasteras 2-2 Elfsborg

Vasteras, Elfsborg, Hacken and Orgryte are the early leaders with four points apiece, but it could have been more for newly-promoted Vasteras had they not conceded a 92nd-minute equaliser at home.

After a goalless first half, Elfsborg took the lead four minutes after the break when a deep Rufai Mohammed cross evaded everyone bar Niklas Hult at the back post, who took it down and leathered the ball in off the crossbar.

But with 73 minutes played, Vasteras were level when Marcus Baggesen's corner was flicked in at the near post by Mikkel Ladefoged, and eight minutes later they were ahead when Mamadou Diagne won possession in the Elfsborg half and slipped it through to Ladefoged, who finished in style.

However, the Superettan champions were denied all three points in added time, as Thomas Isherwood's ball across the edge of the area was smashed on the half-volley by Ari Sigurpalsson, as Elfsborg drew level at the death.
