Lyon sunk by late Toulouse winner in Ligue 1

Lyon went down to a surprise 2-1 defeat at home to Toulouse in Ligue 1 on Sunday, with new arrival Emersonn nodding in a 96th-minute winner for the visitors.

Paulo Fonseca's side went into the weekend's action level on points with reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain at the top of the table but now find themselves third after being sucker-punched by Toulouse.

Brazilian forward Emersonn was Lyon's tormentor in chief as he levelled inside the final three minutes before netting the winner deep into stoppage time.

Lyon looked set to be going clear at the top, ahead of PSG's meeting later on Sunday with Lille, when Malick Fofana put the hosts ahead on 24 minutes.

Emersonn entered the fray off the bench inside the final 20 minutes to flip the game on its head and bring Toulouse up to ninth on 10 points.

The 21-year-old summer signing from Turkish side Goztepe opened his account with Toulouse in the 87th minute as his deflected effort from wide on the left lobbed over a helpless Dominik Greif in the Lyon goal.

The winner came in the sixth minute of injury time as the Brazilian rose highest to glance home fellow substitute Alexis Vossah's corner.

Later on Sunday, Monaco host Cote d'Azur rivals Nice, Strasbourg welcome Angers and Rennes visit Le Havre.

Sunday's final match offers injury-plagued PSG the opportunity to go three points clear at the summit of Ligue 1 as they make the trip north to Lille.
