Potential Gareth Southgate successor revealed ahead of highly-anticipated Euro 2024

England are gearing up for Euro 2024, with the Three Lions being one of the favorites for this summer's European Championship. However, uncertainty remains surrounding Gareth Southgate's future.

While unpopular with large portions of the fan base, the national team boss is admired by the FA. However, with his contract running out this December, the 53-year-old could depart from his role following this summer's tournament.

As a result, several names have been linked with the job, with one exciting manager tipped as a potential successor recently. That man is Mauricio Pochettino, who is now a free agent after surprisingly leaving Chelsea on Tuesday.

The Argentine led the London giants to a sixth-placed finish despite a tumultuous start to life at Stamford Bridge. The Blues were also the fourth most in-form team of 2024. Nonetheless, Pochettino and his former employers could not see eye to eye and thus separated by mutual agreement following an end-of-season internal review.

Southgate is expected to leave the English national team if they fail to win Euro 2024 and according to the Telegraph, Pochettino will be a "leading candidate" for the European heavyweights should he still be available.

The Argentine has previously revealed his willingness to manage the English national team, revealing that he has a "good relationship with England" and adding that he is open to everything.

However, the tricky part is whether Pochettino will be available should the Three Lions job become vacant. While the former Tottenham boss has just left the Chelsea job, he is already being linked with Manchester United.

Since Sir Jim Ratcliffe's arrival, the Red Devils have failed to commit their future to Erik ten Hag, and with the club finishing eighth in the Premier League, many expect the club to sack the Dutchman. Should that occur, Manchester United could reignite their interest in the Argentine.

Additionally, Bayern Munich are without a manager and are searching frantically for Thomas Tuchel's replacement. Harry Kane and Eric Dier, two English international who have worked under Pochettino before, play at the Allianz Arena.
