GAIS continue to climb by beating Hammarby as Goteborg win derby a day late

GAIS - Hammarby

GAIS began the season with three losses in a row, but they have since added three draws and now three wins to their total after winning at home to Hammarby, whose own six-match unbeaten run in the league has come to an end.

The home side took the lead just past the midway point in the first half when Ibrahima Fofana's underhit backpass was pounced upon by Rasmus Niklasson, who beat the advancing Warner Hahn to the loose ball and found the empty net.

Bajen had chances to get back into the game through Paulos Abraham and Elohim Kabore, but they couldn't find a way past Mergim Krasniqi, and the visitors' evening got worse with 20 minutes to go, when Hampus Skoglund was sent off for a second bookable offence.

10 minutes later, the 10 men conceded again when Robert Thorkelsson's shot was saved by Hahn, but his failure to get the ball safe allowed Samuel Salter to tuck home the rebound.

The Mackerels move into seventh - their first venture into the top half this season - while Hammarby remain five points shy of Sirius, who now have a game in hand.

Orgryte 2-3 Goteborg

A fire breaking out in the away end had forced Monday's derby between Orgryte and Goteborg to be abandoned with the visitors leading 2-1. On Tuesday, they met again at Gamla Ullevi to complete their fixture behind closed doors, with the clock restarting at 39:10.

Shortly before the chaotic scenes on Monday, William Hofvander had reduced the deficit after August Erlingmark and Benjamin Brantlind had put Goteborg in control, and it looked as if Tuesday's 61 minutes would add nothing to the story until three minutes from time.

Tobias Sana curled a cross from the left wing to the far post, where Daniel Paulson was on hand to send a looping header over the goalkeeper and into the net to equalise.

But that was not the end of the drama - in the 90th minute, Goteborg were putting the OIS box under real pressure, when a poor attempt at a clearing header fell kindly for Felix Eriksson, who volleyed it low into the back of the net to give Blavitt their first win of the campaign.

It's a win that not only doubles their points tally but takes them a point clear of Orgryte, who have now lost three games in a row and are only above winless Halmstad.
