Pep Guardiola still has 'incredible energy' to continue as Manchester City boss

Guardiola's contract in Manchester expires in June 2027 and he has previously been keen to coach a national team at a major tournament such as Italy, who are still linked with a move for the Spaniard.

City are expected to see a change in their head coach position this summer, with former Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca said to take the role immediately if Guardiola departs.

Bernardo Silva and John Stones have confirmed their departures from City in the last few weeks and Guardiola could be next as he revealed he is still unsure as to whether he will stay or go.

"I wouldn’t be 10 years, even with good titles, if I didn’t have an incredible environment," Guardiola told The Guardian.

"Now I feel more, I don’t know, happy, not happy, but I don’t know, still have incredible energy, still I’m so good, coming here to work on my day off."

On City’s consistency: "I love when Gundo (Ilkay Gundogan) came back from Barcelona and said, ‘Man City is top, top’. You know, when that happens, we are in a good way. That’s why we are consistently in the Champions League for the last 12, 13, 14 years.

“That’s why we are always fighting for the titles, because they are consistent around the tactics, the systems, the players, the managers. It’s like a bubble that makes people feel good."

Guardiola has been at the Etihad Stadium for 10 seasons, taking over as boss back in July 2016 in what has been the most successful spell in the club’s history.

He is widely considered to be one of the greatest managers of all time and if he did leave, the Premier League would suffer and would miss the serial winner.
