Real Madrid planning to integrate former player Kroos into sporting structure

Kroos ended his career in 2024 after 10 years with Los Blancos. During his time with Real Madrid, he won the Champions League five times and claimed the league title on four occasions.

But for the past two years, Real have failed to meet the high expectations. This season, the club parted ways early with coach Xabi Alonso, and now faces the prospect of finishing the campaign without a trophy.

Madrid have already been knocked out of the cup, and with seven matches left in the league, they trail defending champions FC Barcelona by nine points.

In the Champions League quarter-finals, Real lost their first leg against Bayern 2-1, and travel to Munich for the return on Wednesday.

Real face do-or-die match in Munich

"Munich or the abyss," headlined AS after the disappointing performance against FC Girona (1-1) on Friday evening.

"Let’s focus on Wednesday, because we have to give everything," said coach Alvaro Arbeloa afterwards, eager to quickly move past the latest setback.

"Wednesday is our game. That’s clear to us. We have to put all our energy into it. We need to travel to Germany with full confidence."

Toni Kroos won’t be involved yet, but he could make his return as early as this summer.
