FC Copenhagen sack coach Neestrup after worst spell in club history

Despite FC Copenhagen's current 8th place in the Danish Superliga, Jacob Neestrup has led the club through the most successful period for a Danish club ever.

In 3 ½ years, FC Copenhagen has won two Danish championships, two Danish cup titles, and qualification for a third cup final. At the same time, FC Copenhagen, under Jacob Neestrup's leadership, has taken part in the Champions League matches all years from 2022-2026, with the highlight being the 1/8 final against Manchester City in March 2024.

"The club has shown me trust and support all the way - probably more than most others would have received in a similar situation. It is not easy to say goodbye, but that is what is needed now, and we completely agree on that," says Jacob Neestrup.

FC Copenhagen have qualified for the Danish Cup final, where they will face FC Midtjylland later this year. On Sunday, 5 April, they will face Silkeborg in the Parken Stadium in a match which could have a huge impact on whether they will be able to escape relegation.
