The Danish Under-17 national team got off to a good start at the European Championship in Estonia.
In the first group match on Tuesday evening, the Danes faced Montenegro and took the lead after 20 minutes of play.
Danish captain Mikkel Bro Hansen received a perfect through ball, and although he initially seemed to lose control of the ball, the Bodo/Glimt striker managed to steer the ball into the back of the net.
This gave Denmark an early 1-0 lead, but the Danes couldn't hold on to it for long. At the end of the first half, Mark Djokaj escaped the Danish man-marking to restore parity before the interval.
However, it was still the Danes who had the better of the match in the second half, and they were rewarded for their dominance 14 minutes from the end when substitute Mads Jorgensen found Omran Khatar, who restored the lead for the Danes with a quick finish.
Thus, the Danish Under-17 boys could rejoice over an important victory, which means that they are top of their European Championship group together with Italy, who also won 1-0 against France.
Denmark will face France on Friday.
