ADVERTISEMENTS

Ligue 1 - Preview, Broadcast and Streaming info for all games on May 10-15, 2024

The 2023-24 Ligue 1 season has already crowned PSG as champions, but there is still quite a bit to decide in the French top-flight.

The activity in the French league will extend beyond the weekend, as two rescheduled matches will be held on Wednesday to set the stage for the final week of action. With that in mind, PSG and Marseille will be two of the teams forced to play two matches in less than four days, something that could be decisive for L'OM, but not so much for the team that has been crowned as champions.

Monaco, Brest, and Lille keep the battle for the runner-up spot alive, although a win or draw for Monaco would be enough for them to claim that spot. These three teams seem like a lock in next year's Champions League, but they still need to add points to their tally to be safe and sound.

As for those battling to avoid relegation, Metz, Le Havre, and Nantes are struggling to avoid falling in the playoff spot, while Clermont and Lorient seem destined to bid farewell to Ligue 1. Clermont have a massive hurdle to overcome, as they are seven points away from the safe zone, which means all they can look forward to is trying to climb to 16th and into the relegation playoff.

Here are the main things to keep in mind ahead of this weekend's matches.

League standings ahead of this week's games

[TABLE 10]

Top games to watch

Brest vs Reims - After holding on to the runner-up spot for the better part of the season, Brest will try to keep their options to finish second still open with a win here. Meanwhile, Reims are 12th and currently on a five-game run without a win. The first match of the season between these teams ended 2-1 for Brest, and it would not be strange to see a similar score in this clash.

[MATCH 4678952]

Montpellier vs Monaco - Les Princes could secure a top 3 finish with a win here, while Montpellier are only looking to save face after a rather disappointing season. The team coached by Michel Der Zakarian is unbeaten in their last five (three wins in those games), but Monaco's streak including four wins in five games is a bit better. The previous match between these teams ended two-nil for Monaco, who will be eager to complete the double over La Paillade.

[MATCH 4678951]

PSG vs Toulouse - Les Parisiens will play their final home game of the season, but it will be quite different for one specific reason: this could be the last time for Kylian Mbappé at Parc des Princes as a PSG player. The club is yet to specify if there will be a tribute to Mbappé at some point, but it will certainly be interesting to see how the controversial PSG fans say goodbye to their icon. Toulouse will want to spoil the farewell party, mainly because they have nothing to lose after earning 40 points and sitting far away from relegation spots. The first game of the season between these teams ended in a one-all draw, but Mbappé's exit could give these teams a boost as they search for one more win this season.

[MATCH 4678944]

Nice vs PSG - One of the two midweek games will feature the 2023-24 champions against Nice, who are still involved in the race to finish among European competition spots. Nice will need as many points as possible here, and considering this will be the second of three games for PSG in a week, coach Luis Enrique may choose to field an alternative lineup for this clash. Nice defeated PSG in their first match of the season with a 3-2 score, something that could come in handy for their top 5 wishes.
