Manchester City ace set to leave the club by the end of the season

All good things must come to an end for all players, and this time around, the first footballer hired by Pep Guardiola in his stint as Manchester City will be leaving the club by the end of the season.

The current Premier League leaders are one win away from clinching one more title under Pep Guardiola, and that clash could very well be the final one for a key member of the coach's squad since his arrival to Etihad Stadium.

The player in question is none other than Ilkay Gündogan. The German midfielder's relationship with the club is great, but sources close to him revealed to the Daily Mail that the former Borussia Dortmund footballer believes his time to leave the club has come.

Gündogan's deal with Manchester City comes to an end when next season concludes, but the club has agreed to let him leave with no questions asked if a good offer is made for the player's services.

Hours after the article by the Daily Mail was published, Gündogan was spotted taking a plane to Madrid, which was taken as a sign of things to come for the German ace, who was linked to a move to Real Madrid back in 2019. Even so, it remains to be seen if the player will join La Liga this summer or if he decides to test his fortunes in other competitions.
