Erling Haaland makes Champions League history as Dortmund thump Club Brugge

Erling Haaland entered the Champions League's record books once again after a sensational performance inspired Borussia Dortmund to a vital win over CLub Brugge. The 20-year-old forward hit a brace as Die BVB secured a 3-0 win over their Ukrainian counterparts to leap to the top of Group F.

As it has been the case since Haaland arrived at the Signal Iduna Park in January 2019, Dortmund reaped off his partnership with Jadon Sancho in the early minutes of Tuesday's encounter. The pair combined to hand the hosts the lead in the 18th minute before the Englishman hit a stunning free-kick on the stroke of half-time to double his side's advantage.

The game was finally put to bed in the 60th minute with Haaland instinctively firing home a loose ball that rickashayed off a Club Brugge defender in the penalty area. In effect, the Norwegian ascended the top goalscorers' leaderboard with his tally now standing at six in four appearances.

In the grand scheme of things, he became the fastest and youngest player in Champions League history to score 15 goals, having only made 12 appearances. Since arriving at Dortmund, the former RB Salzburg wonderkid has scored 32 goals in 31 games, 17 of which have come in 13 appearances this season. Interestingly, Haaland has scored 70 senior career goals from the 91 shots that he has taken since making his professional debut.
