English Premier League: Where to watch Liverpool vs Crystal Palace live on August 15, 2022

Preview

Liverpool return to Premier League action on Monday as Klopp's mighty Reds go in search of their first win of the 2022/23 season. Unfortunately, the Merseyside giants will be in for a tough ride as they will face none other than Crystal Palace in a tricky 3 p.m. ET showdown at Anfield.

Salah and Co. enter this clash on the back of a disappointing opening weekend to the new season. The UEFA Champions League runners-up faced Fulham, a newly-promoted side, and despite being tipped to coast to victory, Klopp's men were outshone by the London outfit and were – in the eyes of the manager as well – fortunate to come away with a point, drawing 2-2.

Aleksandar Mitrović tormented the likes of Van Dijk and Co., netting a brace past Alisson. Fortunately, Mohamed Salah and marquee summer signing Darwin Nunez found the back of the net. The Egyptian made Liverpool history as a result, quite a few in fact, but the overall feeling was that of disappointment as they watched bitter rivals Manchester City kick things off with a victory.

Fast forward to today and the Cityzens already have six points out of a possible six, scoring six and conceding none after following up on their 2-0 victory over West Ham with a 4-0 triumph over Bournemouth. As a result, anything but a win for the Merseyside giants would be a huge early blow to their Premier League title aspirations.

Unfortunately, Vieira's side are no pushovers and any clash with the Eagles is a tough test. Additionally, Jurgen is currently dealing with a number of concerning injuries, with Thiago Alcantara being the latest player to pick up a knock, limping off the pitch in the draw with Fulham due to a hamstring problem. Will Liverpool get the win they desire or does another disappointing result await them in their first home game of the season?

Crystal Palace will hope the latter is true. Zaha and Co. did not enjoy the best of starts as well, suffering a defeat in the first game of the Premier League campaign.

The London outfit hosted city rivals Arsenal in the inaugural game of the campaign and suffered a 2-0 defeat, conceding an own goal late in the second half. The home side were outplayed in the first 45 minutes by the Gunners but were able to turn things around after the break. Nonetheless, it wasn't the score line they wanted.

One thing working against Vieira's side is their horrible record against Liverpool. Their last visit to Anfield ended in a 3-0 loss while the rematch at Selhurst Park didn't fare differently, with the Eagles losing 3-1. However, despite their poor pre-season preparations, the visitors remain one of the toughest teams in the league outside the top six and should thus make for an interesting fixture.

Team news

Liverpool: As mentioned earlier, the Reds are in the midst of an injury crisis, with Thiago Alcantara's hamstring issue being the latest concern. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Caoimhin Kelleher, Diogo Jota, Curtis Jones and Ibrahima Konate are all sidelined while Tsimikas and Matip are doubts. However, it isn't all bad news as Naby Keita should return while Darwin Nunez could get his first Premier League start in his home debut.

Crystal Palace: Summer signing Cheick Doucoure picked up a cramp in the defeat to Arsenal and was taken off, but the midfielder should be back in time for this fixture. Additionally, Michael Olise, who missed the Gunners showdown altogether, is in the running for a return from injury. Odsonne Edouard, meanwhile, could drop to the bench after his disappointing showing in the defeat to Arsenal.
