Bally Sports North

Fox Sports North is an American regional television network under Fox Sports Networks (FSN). It is owned by Diamond Sports Group and is headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It serves the states of Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

It was first launched in 1986 as WCCO II, before being relaunched as Midwest Sports Channel three years later. It became an affiliate of Fox Sports Net in 1997 and had its name changed to Fox Sports Net North in 2001. It was only in 2009 that the channel, then commonly referred to as FSN North, obtained its current name following a network-wide rebranding exercise involving Fox Sports’ regional TV stations.

Fox Sports North’s programming is focused on both professional and college sports teams from Minnesota. This includes the Minnesota Vikings (American football), Minnesota Twins (baseball), Minnesota Wild (ice hockey), Minnesota Timberwolves and Minnesota Lynx (both being basketball teams). In the past, it has also featured soccer club Minnesota United FC.

Like many other Fox-affiliated regional networks in USA, Fox Sports North maintains an overflow feed named Fox Sports North Plus, to which they offload live games whenever they face scheduling conflicts. The alternate feed has aired hundreds of live events annually since its introduction years ago.

Fox Sports North is available via multiple cable TV providers, though its exact channel number in their respective lineups may change based on the location. The network, which comes in both 720p and 480i formats, is however accessible via satellite on the following platforms in USA:

  • DirecTV: Channel 668 (SD) and Channel 668-1 (HD)
  • DISH Network: Channel 442 (SD) and Channel 9580 (HD)
