Arsenal named as frontrunner to lure Declan Rice to the Emirates

At long last, it seems that Declan Rice is ready for bigger challenges in his career, and if things keep their current course, the Premier League leaders may be in prime position to hire the highly-rated footballer.

A report by The Evening Standard states that the 24-year-old Rice will part ways with West Ham in search for pastures new, mainly because he wants to play for a title contender and he has not been able to change the Hammers' fortunes all by himself. Immediately, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Arsenal were linked to the player's future, but the report has given the Gunners an unexpected edge over their Premier League rivals which may be key to his signing.

Out of these three teams, the first one to be ruled out is Chelsea. The Blues went on a massive spending spree in the past two transfer windows, and before they can add talent to their squad, they will have to sell some players first. Additionally, the club seems destined to miss out on Champions League football next season, which will end their options to sign Rice even if they are his boyhood club.

Next up is Manchester United, who have their own problems to sort out first. Out of those issues, the first one would be to know the end of the David De Gea transfer saga, but more importantly, signing a top-rated No.9 to help the team in front of goal. That being said, Rice would be a proper addition to Ten Hag's midfield, but they would need to get rid of at least two players who perform in the same position as West Ham's ace to make way for his signing.

That leaves us with Arsenal's chances of landing Rice. The Gunners will certainly be involved in Champions League games, which will boost their options, but if that was not enough, their options in that position are nowhere near Rice's skills, who could fit right in if he joined the EPL leaders.

Apparently, it will be up to Arsenal to complete this move, as Liverpool and Manchester City may have settled on trying to hire other players in that position. Will we see Declan Rice playing at the Emirates for the Gunners? We will have to wait until the summer to see how things pan out.
